What is the penalty for an illegal man downfield on a pass play....Is there a loss of down imposed?

Thanks for your question. I apoligize for my delay in answering it - I was away working a game myself this weekend and then on a business trip yesterday.

Ineligible man down field on a legal foreward Pass play is governed by Rule 7-3-10 and is a 5 yard previous spot foul. There is NO loss of down.  The loss of down was removed from the penalty years ago.
