Question
Hi, im wondering if you can help me or point me in the direction of who can. I am wondering how I would go about getting a walk on try out at a D1 school in FL. and if you think it would be worth me trying..I am 24 so im a little old to be trying but..I played at a very good high school, and then went on to play 3 years as a starter in semi-pro football the SSFL which is the highest level of semi-pro in the USA.. and had a partial scholarship offer from a pretty good D2 program last season that I turned down after summer practices and multiple opportunities to play at D3 schools because I really want to play D1..I am a little under sized for a RB/WR( at D2 they had me as a DB) at 5 11 165lbs but am very strong and have been working with a personal trainer 4 days a week since I quit D2 in summer to try to get the size and strength i need for D1-A  and would like to try out in spring as a JR transfer with 3yrs elligibility...Do you think someone in my position could get a try out or make it onto a D1A school like Florida international,Central FL, or South Fl. which are the 3 schools Id like to try out for and do you know how I could go about getting a try out,Ive called USF's guidance office and they didnt know how and Ive been on their web site and it has nothing about it..any help you could give me would be appreciated. And if this questions out side of your expertise then thank you for your time.Jimmy-

Answer
Jimmy, I'm a Florida State, Georgia Bulldog, Georgia Southern Eagle, and South Florida Bull fan.  If you end up playing for the Bulls, FIU or the Golden Knights, I will be pulling for you!!

I do not know if the NCAA rules would allow you to suit up in a college game if you've been paid as a professional or played in a professional league.  Your first step is to call or contact the NCAA to get a clarification of the rules.

If you cannot get an answer from an email, I would suggest making a personal visit to the college of your choice.  Make an appointment with one of the Coaches.  They can advise your chances.  If you are skilled, your age will not deter them from giving you a chance.

I wish you the very best!!
