QuestionQUESTION: I am a 5'9 196 lb that runs a 4.93(laser) in the forty yard dash. By jan 1. I will be 5'9 180 and probably run a 4.8/4.75 in the forty.
What is the average speed of a division 3 running back...if not that what is "average" or "good" speed for d3 running backs
ANSWER: Robert, anything under 4.4 or 4.3 is moving out but your size and speed will improve as you stay dedicated to a workout regimen. Coaches look at your speed, size, agility, and mental toughness, so all areas need to be concentrated on.
Have a great day!

QUESTION: Thank you......i ve decide 2 stay at linebacker..... but is their ways to gain weight without losing...or even improving my speed.... I already know that I'm smallish to play linebacker...but that's what I played thru high school and junco last year and this year. So when I transfer in sept-december, I just need to know that
AnswerIf you are athletic, you can play running back or Linebacker, but either positions are punishing to your body. If you try to tackle a 280 pound running back, you will wish you'd eaten a ton of cheeseburgers and milkshakes to get that weight up.
Last night, I watched Georgia Southern (one of my three favorite teams) beat Coastal Carolina (Conway/Myrtle Beach).
The Eagles QB is 5'9" and 180 pounds, wet. He scored 6 touchdowns and literally danced around the big guys. He's is incredibly agile AND strong. So, your size will not be a negative as a running back if you're smart, quick and resilient. Get with your team people and they will advise the diet and workout requirements. Different schools have different schemes for their players.
Stay in touch with me and get me some tickets for a game you're playing in near Georgia. As a matter of fact, why don't you contact Coach Hatcher at Georgia Southern and you can be a super star with a traditionally huge fan base!!!!
