College Football/no respect
Expert: Thom Brooks - 8/29/2007
QuestionI have played very well my whole high school career, I'm 6'5 198, and run a 4.5. But I go to a small 2A school, and it seems like the big college scouts are just blowing me off for that reason. How can I get more repect from them? (right now I have a soft verbal to UNT, but would like a top 10 school)
AnswerForrest, hello!
You need to send films and stats to the colleges you seek to play for. Call their Athletic Department to get dates for tryouts. Advertise yourself. If the scouts are ignoring you, go over them to the head dog. Why do you think you are getting rejected by the scouts? If you have the physical ability, do they question that, or your heart or your attitude? If you're a good athlete with good mental skills, and awareness of what's going on during the play, then you should be considered for a slot on the team.
Are you trying for a position that you're not suited for? Do you play other positions? Are you flexible in your attitude about where you play?
Analyze your strengths and weaknesses. You actually need to write them down. What would the college scout see as your pros and cons? If you see a negative that the scouts may be viewing, then you need to acknowledge and then take meaures to correct and improve.
One of the students in my insurance school just gave me a magazine that his brother is involved with. His brothers played at Notre Dame and one has a magazine called, Insight Recruiting. I'm not endorsing them since I'm not familiar with it, but they will call you and likely take some kind of fee in order to get you an audience with colleges.
His name is DJuan Francisco, at 317-413-3760. His email is insightsporttwo@yahoo.com
and www.insightrecruiting.net
Let me know if they sound favorable.
I hope you can see your dream come true! If you play for UNT, you can always transfer to another school (maybe having to sit out a year) if you find a different offer.
Take care,
