Question
QUESTION: Hi. I'm 5'11 weighing in about 190lbs with a 4.8 40yd sprint. I play SS. ( Working on my Speed, Strength, Agility as of right now until Junior College season starts)

I was wondering what are the possibilities of getting a walk on to SDSU to play SS after i play SS for 2 years at a JC?
I really want to leave a first good impression to the SDSU coaches. And if i did play 2 years at a JC will i still be able to come into SDSU as a freshmen and play 4 years of SDSU football?

Very confused..

I am working hard to shave off my I'd time. My goal is to be able to run a solid 4.6 I'd sprint by the time my 2 years of JC SS is up."

ANSWER: Kudo, hello!

Your time in JUCO will count against your NCAA eligibility but SDSU will have to confirm your exact time left.  Do your grades need improving or can you apply for SDSU now?
Maybe you can play one year of JUCO and still have 3 years of eligibility left with the big club.

You need to keep working on improving those 40's.  Your 4.8 will not run down some of those Gazelles you'll be chasing!!

My son lives a couple of miles away from the Charger's stadium, so he'll be close by.

Get on their roster and let me know, so I can follow you career.

Keep clean and stay on a healthy diet.  You're living a dream so stay disciplined and work hard.  You are what America is all about.  Congratulations!!

QUESTION: Thom Brooks!

Yes my grades are good however it's the cost that matters to me.

What I really want to achieve is get some kind of scholarship if not walk on the best.

If my first year in JCi shine and dog all over the field i might go to SDSU after 1 year.

As far as the 40yd training time what time do you think i need to achieve to be a JC star?

Also in terms of strength as a SS what weight and speed do you think i will need to possess in order to make a impact for SDSU?

To me JC sounds like a joke. Alot of my friends are going to big schools like UNC and Oregon Ducks one even to USC.

Answer
Kudo, Good Morning!

Your 40 time needs to be reduced to whatever repetition will allow.  Getting it to 4.75 , then 4.70, then 4.60, etc.  Sprints, sprints, sprints.  Time will tell how you can take clicks off the clock.

You need to contact the Athletic Departments at JUCO and SDSU.  They will discuss strength exercises.  If they decline before you're a player, you need to contact any players or Coaches that will be working out.  They will help you with systems, schedules and dates of tryouts.  You can also contact your local YMCA, local high schools, and local football officials association.  All of them have a lot of knowledge to offer.

If you try out for the JUCO team, you need to have the Mindset that they are the Super Bowl Champions.  If you take the field with an attitude of complacence, you will not make the team.  I'm sure you will be fired up before, during and after.

Force yourself to write down a Plan of Action.  Record your strengths and weaknesses.  Keep dates of workouts and times on your 40.  Your natural ability will be the reason you make the team roster.

Have a Day !!
