Question
I'm planning on getting a dog and came across an image of this cute one: http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/8644/adffafhb4.jpg
I'm unsure as to what breed it is and wondering if you can identify it. Thanks!

Answer
Hello James,
You could be correct  as a collie chow mix.  It is difficult to really tell size, age and full body structure from this shot.  However, look at the ears, the width of the skull and the coloring...considering the way this pup is laying down, there is also the possibility that this pup could be quite young and will be a large dog.  If that is the case I would say there is a possibility of saint bernard and maybe chow or ?.  The markings are like a saint bernard and the ears are very similar.  This one is one of those ponderances.  More pictures with a bit more of the body would be needed to refine judgement call.
You have a great day and best wishes with you selection of a new dog. Here is a website that will give you some tips on selecting a dog to match YOU: http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/dog/lib-GenTrain.htm
