Colombia/Masters programs in Bogota, and working in Bogota

Question
Hi Marta

My boyfriend and I are looking to move to Bogota. He will be moving and working with his job, however I am still deciding what to do.

I am learning spanish right now in Canada, and have a beginner level.  I am looking to spend time once we move just learning the language.

My first question: How long do you think it will take me to learn enough spanish to get a job in Bogota?  Are there jobs that I can get in the meantime that would require less spanish?

Second question: I have a degree in business and accounting, and am looking to go back to school. Do you know if there are any masters programs in universities in Bogota that are run in English?

Thanks so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Jane

Answer
Hi Jane,
To learn conversational Spanish, figure you will need from 8 to 12 months, of course it depends on how much you know and how easy it is for you to learn. We own a small agency that teaches Spanish either in very small class settings or one on one. In terms of jobs, there are not many jobs period, and finding something with little Spanish, difficult. It would be better if you could set up a small business, there are many things available. Email me and we can help you, info@colombianpossibilities.com
There are plenty of masters programs along your area, but I am not sure if any in English, I would doubt it, but I can try and find out.
Email me or call me 703.652.3850.
