Expert: MRZ - 2/14/2008
QuestionHello Marta, I am a Canadian with a Colombian mother and I have relatives currently living in Colombia. I wish to bring a relative to Canada for a short visit of no more than two months or so. 1. What is the process for my relative? 2. What is the overall cost to them? 3. What can I do here in Canada to assist them?
thank you

AnswerIf you are a Colombian and wish to visit Canada for less than six months as a tourist, or if you are visiting a relative, you will require a temporary resident's visa.
To apply for this visa the person needs:
*Visa application form
*Receipt of visa fee payment, for one single entry is $100, for multiple entries is $200
*A passport valid for a minimum of one year
*1 passport-size photograph
*Description of trip: Describe clearly and in detail your proposed visit to Canada.
*Letter of invitation from relative in Canada
*Information concerning family members in Canada, Photocopy of the permanent residence card or citizenship card from this relative
*Originals of bank statements for the past three months for the person traveling, savings accounts or CDTs which show sufficient economic solvency to support the application.
*Proof of economic solvency of the family member who will pay for your travel expenses (if it is the case)
*Originals of income declarations of the past two years, with proof of pension.
*Certificates of release and transfer of real property issued up to one month previously.
Our agency can help your relative with all the paperwork and filing. If you need any assitance please email us at info@colombianpossibilities.com or call us at 703-652-3850, this is a US based phone line that rings in our Bogota office.
Thanks
Marta
