Colombia/Residency in colombia

Question
I am a retiree living in USA with my Colombian wife. She has family in Colombia and has a green card as of now. One of the places we might want to settle in is Bucaramanga. My question is how do I get residency in Colombia - what do I need to do? What kinds of visas are available for residing in Colombia? Do I file for residency here or go to Colombia a to do this? I know limited Spanish and am still learning. One of the answers to such a question was - just fly down and go to the local DAS office and file for residency. This doesn't seem realistic - is it? I do not want to work - I have enough retirement income to live comfortably. I would like to know the requirements before we really decide to settle there - we will visit Colombia again shortly. Thanks:

Answer
Hi RJ,
To file for residency you have to do it in Colombia with the Foreign Ministry. There is a lot of paperwork involved, please write me at info@colombianpossibilities.com and I will be happy to send you a document we created for our clients.
Thanks
