Question
Hello Marta-
I am a US Citizen born in Colombia. I would like to obtain Colombian citizenship and a Colombian passport as well so that I can have dual citizenship. However, I do not have my Colombia birth certificate.

I was born in 1957 in Cucuta, I have the name of the attending doctor, and my birth certificate was registered with the American Consulate in Barranquilla. I am unsure if the American Consulate in Barranquilla maintains a copy or record of my Colombian birth certificate.

Can you tell me how to obtain the necessary documents (birth certificate, etc) to obtain a Colombian passport and related citizenship?

Thanks so much for your help!

Answer
Hello,
There won't be any records with the American Consulate or Embassy here. You will find your birth certificate in Cucuta at the Public Notary's office.
We can assist you in obtaining the necessary records in Colombia.
Please contact me directly at info@colombianpossibilities.com or call us at 703-652-3850.
Thanks
