Question
is the noise level in cartegena as bad as i have heard?

Answer
Dear Mari:

Not at all where I went in Cartagena. Actually, the environment was calmed and nice. I was there for a week. I was in the touristic area of Cartagena where the major hotels are and stayed there in an apartment. I walked the streets by the hotels and there was not too much traffic. I was also where the forts are where tourists go. Not too much traffic there either. We took a ride in a carriage around the enclosed area (an area enclosed by the fort walls and there was not too much traffic). We sat in a coffee place at a park and it was nice and calmed. We waited for the night to come and went into a night club, which was nice. We went one day to the poor area of the city and there was some heavy traffic, but it had rained. Overall, the touristic places we went to were calm, not noisy at all. We walked by the beach and there was no problem parking. Overall, the city was calmed. I would think that the poor areas would have more traffic, some narrower streets, and more noise, more so when it rains. We went to a shopping center in the poor area of the city. We also went to a pier were we took a boat to the sea. Overall, a very nice experience; more so since the people is very friendly.

Take care,
