Question
My wife is a Colombian citizen.
can she import our 2006 Nissan Armada, from USA to Bogota?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Dear Noah:

The information I have is that only brand new cars and clasic cars can be imported. The new cars would be zero miles and manufactured in the same year of being be imported. The classic cars they are talking about are 1948 and older. My understanding is that you can temporarily drive into Colombia in older cars, but not import them for sale. You will need to get them out when the time expires. People can bring their belongings (they call it "menaje") when moving to Colombia, but not import cars, boats, or motorcycles.

The details can be found at:
http://www.colhouston.org/servicios/menajes.php

There are some links for Dian, but I see no need to contact them because the answer is: no for a 2006 car.
