Colon Cancer/bowel problem

Question
I haven't had a bowl movement in 7 days. The first evening I thought I had to but when I went to the bathroom all that came out was pus or white mucus stuff (sorry its so TMI) and a good bit of it. I haven't felt the need to have a BM since then and I am in no pain. But I normally suffer from IBS and normally spicy foods set me off. Well I've been eating spicy foods on purpose and haven't had any result. I've been drinking apple juice and eating apples and eating a ton of oat meal and still no result. I've also been taking stool softeners for 4 days (2 a day for the last 2 days) and still no result. I have made an apt but just wanting a second opinion in case... What could be wrong? I am able to pass gas and actually have the need to do that often(which is odd). I only mentioned it because when I was pregnant a year ago that was a big deal if I could do that even without having a bm (after my c-section) then they would let me go home. Please help I am very worried! Thanks, Laura  ?

Answer
Well the situation - as you describe it - is probably not dangerous - at least it is not obviously so. But I still think an examination by a dr. should be done in order to find out the reason for this and if any action is necessary! So it is good that you have made an appointment! Without an examination I can only speculate why you have this problem so an examination is in order so we will be on firmer ground! Good luck!
