Question
My dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 A colon cancer. 1 lymph node showed microscopic cancer cells. It was located in the rectal sigmoid part of the colon. He received all of his radiation but only 2 months of off and on chemo due to severe diarhea. My question is what are his chances. From what i here they are pretty good and some say that surgery for his stage could be curative. He has no high risk factors. If it was not for that one node he would have been stage 1 with almost a gaurateed chance of surviving it. Pleas help me out.

Answer
Well, I can not give you any guarantees, but even without chemo - though of course it would have been better had he been able to go through it - I think his chances are good after surgery and radiation - just as you yourself wrote. That is as far I can go without having a lot more information.
