Question
My sister was diagnosed w/stage IV c.c. a year ago. Mets to liver and lungs.  Tumor was removed from colon. Has had chemo and beam directed radiation on liver a month ago. Scan yesterday showed one new lymph node in lung cancerous and 1 tumor in lung has doubled in size and a couple of new ones in lungs. Liver shows no change but dr said it would take a while for radiation to show results. What type of treatment other than chemo is available for lungs?

Answer
I'm sorry to read about her and your problems. Colon cancers (except those in the rectum) are usually not very sensitive to radiation therapy. Unfortunately at present only chemo therapy is available in a case like this. There are some different schemes of such therapy available but unfortunately in a case like this there is not much I can offer you! I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you! Since this is your sister I strongly suggest that you have your own colon checked (by colonoscopy)!
