Colon Cancer/colon cancer symptoms

Question
My dad has been diagnosed with colon cancer.  Up to now he has had blood in his stool and some constipation.  In the last week he has developed a change in stool.  It is now thin in size.  Does this additional symptom mean the cancer is getting worse?  Or are the three symptoms simply signs of cancer and not necessarily signs of worse stages?  We are awaiting a surgery date.

Answer
Blood in his stools MAY be a sign of colon cancer. None of the other signs are sure signs of anything, may show a worsening or maybe not. Has he undergone a colonoscopy? What did it show? Any X-ray studies? CT scans? MRI scans? If so what were the results? Any biopsies? Results? Very hard to give any opinion without these results!
