Question
Someone has colonrectal cancer, the cancer is inoperable, no radiation and no chemo given. 92 yrs old. A diverting colostomy done 3 months ago for bowel blockage. Now bleeding more, a somewhat distended stomach. Also advanced alzheimers. What is your outlook and time frame for this patient given the above facts?

Answer
It is always impossible to predict survival time with any accuracy - too many unknown factors. But that the situation is hopeless is quite clear. I would be surprised if the survival time extends one year. May very well be shorter. It will probably also be so difficult to take care of the patient that the patient should be in a hospice.
That is all I can say.
