Colon Cancer/high left colon pain

Question
I am a 40 year old healthy female.  I began to experience a slight discomfort high on my left side right up under my rib cage.  I thought it might be subluxation of a rib due to my back being out or something.  I went to my Chiropractor, had an adjustment and was pretty good the next day.  By the third day the pain had returned and progressed with a vengeance!  By mid day I could hardly walk, sit or anything the pain was so great.  It was a very sharp pain up under my ribs on the left side.  I went to the Dr. they exrayed me and it showed my colon was very large in that spot and filled with gas they said.  I was told it could have been a virus that caused this and I was prescribed Sulindac for inflammation and pain and Mytab for gas. I was better the next day, but every time I would walk for very long or try to do anything the pain returned.  Should I be more concerned about this diagnosis and what is your opinion on why my colon was so enlarged like it was? Thank You

Answer
Gas in your colon - especially if right under your diaphragm - CAN cause strange symptoms. Without being able to examine you myself there is not much I can do here. However if your symptoms do not disappear quickly you should let a dr. check you again! Good luck!
