Question
Hello Doctor:

I was diagnosed with this anal cancer in 2005. I have a permanent colostomy and had chemoradiation therapy. Later tests showed no cancer.

My doctors have told me that this type of carcinoma "rarely" spreads, and "rarely" recurs. Would you agree with that?

Answer
Yes if treated early enough and correctly enough. I understand from your question that you have been treated with a combination of surgery, radiation therapy & chemo therapy. Correct? If so you have at least so far been treated in the correct way. More I can not say in your particular case. You must also understand that with malignant tumours no guarantees can be given!
