I'm searching for any info on a movie that I used to watch when I was a child. I'm guessing it's an 80s movie. And I believe there was more than one movie with this same male character.

The guy had short brown hair and he was always dressed in blue jeans and jean vest. He wore a basebal hat. And I believe he used to have a small dog with him.
I remember that he was making really funny faces.

There are two movies I remember:
- there was a door under some kid's bed, which was a portal to a monster world. Then this funny guy helped the kid to stay away from the monsters (I believe). I can also remember a scene with many slimy eggs and fog around them. I think it was a Halloween sort of movie.
- the other movie was with the same guy, but he had an evil twin who tried to kill him.
