Question
Barbara,
I just wrote replying to a question about THE GOOD HUMOR MAN...I hope it shows up on the website...my only expertise is that I have an above average memory, especially when it is from events or things I have experienced in my life.

Am hoping what I wrote amplifies understanding in this movie...I wish to God it gets aired again so I can record it...really was a classic from that period of time.

Sincerely, Greg Smerdon

Answer
Well, I always appreciate help from others, especially when I'm stumped by a question, although I can't recall which question this was! I get many questions, both on the comedy and the SF film sites so maybe you can refresh my memory as to who asked about this film.

I didn't see any extra answers on the full listing of  questions I've answered, but maybe it got posted elsewhere.

Memory is a good thing--often I can recall a film from a description, and then I know my answer is right, as opposed to when I have to engage in a search for the title of a film I've never even heard of.

A follow up to your comment--I went to another page to see the full listing of comedy questions answered by experts, and discovered that this was asked of me back last year, and I came up with this title.  I didn't see your addition to it for the person who had asked about it (clearly asked other experts as well).  Maybe it got to him, and maybe not (but I hope so).

It does sound like a funny film; too bad it isn't on DVD.

Expertise

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, who has expertise on subjects related to film. I can answer general questions on U.S. film comedy (especially satires of the 1960s and 1970s) and comic theory. I also could answer questions related to specific comic genres, such as comedian comedies, screwball comedies, "stupid" comedies, and so forth. The more specific you can make your question, the better (e.g. main plot details, main characters, possible character names, possible actors, how you viewed the show, etc.). I also need to have a release date (or range of dates, or at least the year you viewed the film). Please do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer questions about comedies from other countries, made-for-TV movies, and recent comic films and actors (although I would do my best to find out). I cannot answer questions about specific TV shows or series, "Our Gang" episodes, anime/magna or about film collectables. I generally cannot provide movie recommendations, since what I find funny others may not. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, or where to buy movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
