Question
Many years ago, I saw "Oh Men, Oh Women". with Tony Randall, David Niven, Ginger Rogers and Dan Daley. I can not find it on VHS or DVD. I keep telling my wife about it. Where can I find it? Thanks

Answer
Dear Edward:  This film is not currently on DVD or VHS.  Apparently there was a VHS edition released, but I'm guessing it was retired by the distributor (often happens, esp. for older films).

But, you may be in luck--on ebay right now is an auction for one copy of this film.  It is ebay item 6365396911.  The starting bid is 14.99.  The bad news is there is already one other bid, so you'll have to decide how far up in price you are ready to go to get this film (the other bid is, of course, not shown).  The auction continues to Feb. 06, 2005 at 7 p.m.

If you don't want to pay more than this, then I do have some other suggestions. One is to check video sellers that specialize in rare and out-of-print videos, to see if any of them have a copy.  Another is to check with local or other libraries, to see if they might have a copy (or can order one from inter-library loan; a university or big city library may be the best for that).  Also AMC-TV occasionally plays this film, although it is not currently scheduled.  Perhaps it will schedule it if you contact them.

Good luck on your search.  Finding out-of-print videos can be a pain, but if it was once on video, there is a chance a copy is floating around somewhere.  A final suggestion if none of these works is to contact 20th Century Fox and keep bugging them to release it to DVD.

Expertise

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, who has expertise on subjects related to film. I can answer general questions on U.S. film comedy (especially satires of the 1960s and 1970s) and comic theory. I also could answer questions related to specific comic genres, such as comedian comedies, screwball comedies, "stupid" comedies, and so forth. The more specific you can make your question, the better (e.g. main plot details, main characters, possible character names, possible actors, how you viewed the show, etc.). I also need to have a release date (or range of dates, or at least the year you viewed the film). Please do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer questions about comedies from other countries, made-for-TV movies, and recent comic films and actors (although I would do my best to find out). I cannot answer questions about specific TV shows or series, "Our Gang" episodes, anime/magna or about film collectables. I generally cannot provide movie recommendations, since what I find funny others may not. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, or where to buy movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
