Question
Hi Barbara-- Unfortunately I do not recall any of the actors as being -of "major status" in the film industry....but I am pretty sure this was a movie made for late nite tv and filmed in the US.   The plot was pretty much what I discribed in my previous email....There's one scene I remember vividly...after being disqualified the devils girls decide to have the last laugh @ the expense of the head camp counsler- who disqualified them in the first place....the girls hook up with some bad biker guys and after drinking many beers...well of course nature will call...The guys filled the water balloons...obviously not with water and then they used one of the girls' bras as a sling shot and sent the balloons flying @ the counsler when she stepped out of her cabin....I know-- sounds very sick & idiotic..but like I said it was a stupid cheesey comedy but I got a laugh out of it.....Thanks for your help  - even if you are unable to locate the info I appreciate the attention you've given my question--- Lisa----------------------

When I was younger I used to watch the USA network on saturday nights...They had a section called " USA's Up All Nite" . Here they would air comedies like Porky's, revenge of the nerds; lots of movies dealing with young people trying to make fast money, get laid, causing mischief etc...you get the picture.  There was one movie in particular that I remember and I cant remember the title.....It had to do with a cheerleading camp; there were several girls representing their schools @ this camp and 2 of the teams were called the devils and the ducks.   The duck girls were from a catholic high school, very innocent and very blah with their cheering whereas the devils girls were obviously the opposite. Anyway long story short the devils were disqualified from the competition that was to be held @ the end of camp for misconduct during their stay there and they take the ducks under their wings to teach them how to become #1 -they even lend them their uniforms- to ensure that the ducks beat their competition-who incidentally helped to have the devils disqualified....would you happed to know the name of this film? thanks for any help you can give to me

Dear Lisa:  I've been spending the last three days looking for any comedy with this combination of descriptors and haven't found the exact match yet.  Although there are plenty of movies about cheerleaders, none has this exact plot description. I'm sorry.  Can you provide any additional information about this film? Is it a U.S. film?  A TV movie perhaps?  What about the year (even an estimate), the names of any actors or characters, any other plot events or information, etc.? Any additional info may help me track it down.

Answer
Dear Lisa:

Well, I tried to redo my search with the new information, and still came up without a title of a film that exactly matches your plot description.

There is a low-budget comedy film made in 1984 called "Gimme an F" that revolves around a cheerleading camp with two competing groups called the Ducks and the Falcons.  This is the only film I could discover that even came close to your description.  The plot summary did not note if the Ducks were from a Catholic school, nor was there any reference to biker guys, but it apparently is a pretty stupid comedy. Could this be the film you were thinking of?

If not, I'm stumped, and sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Expertise

I am a professor of communication at a midwest university, who has expertise on subjects related to film. I can answer general questions on U.S. film comedy (especially satires of the 1960s and 1970s) and comic theory. I also could answer questions related to specific comic genres, such as comedian comedies, screwball comedies, "stupid" comedies, and so forth. The more specific you can make your question, the better (e.g. main plot details, main characters, possible character names, possible actors, how you viewed the show, etc.). I also need to have a release date (or range of dates, or at least the year you viewed the film). Please do not just provide a set of links to someplace else (e.g. imdb discussion threads). I am less able to answer questions about comedies from other countries, made-for-TV movies, and recent comic films and actors (although I would do my best to find out). I cannot answer questions about specific TV shows or series, "Our Gang" episodes, anime/magna or about film collectables. I generally cannot provide movie recommendations, since what I find funny others may not. Nor will I answer obvious homework (although I will point you to resources to help answer the question, if asked). I also can't help you find movie stars, or where to buy movie memorabilia, or tell you how to break into the business.
