Comic books (Comics)/Old comic book - with two covers attached

Question
Hi Mark, I was grading my comics and I found an old Marvel Sub-Mariner comic (#66) from Oct, 1973.  It has 2 covers attached to it. Otherwise, the comic is in Fine or Very Fine condition.  Does this manufacturing anomaly increase the value of the comic?

Answer
Hi Alan,

Based on my experience, I'd have to say yes.  Even if the outer cover is in bad shape, it usually provides protection for the inner cover, keeping it looking much nicer than similar comics without the extra cover.

Although I don't believe there are any disclaimers in the various price guides stating that comics with extra covers are valued more, comics that I have personally sold which have had that characteristic have always sold for higher amounts on eBay than similar issues that did not.  And I've seen that happen with other sellers as well.

In fact, most sellers will intentionally draw attention to the fact their comic has a double cover by mentioning it in the title of their listing.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

- Mark
