Question
Where would you suggest looking for value information regarding comics not listed in Overstreet? (Besides closed auctions on eBay.)  Specifically I'm looking for info on "Blackman Comics" from circa 1972, but more generally  I'm talking about underground comics, 80s b&w, "adult" comics, etc., which for editorial reasons are not lised by Overstreet.

Answer
Hi Dan

There is a 1982 book by Jay Kennedy called "The Underground and New Wave Comix Price Guide."  I have also heard there is a more recent book by Dan Fogel called "The Underground Comix Price Guide" that was published in 2006, but I have never seen this book.

Other than those, I don't have any advice for comics and comix not listed in Overstreet or Wizard price guides.  Most of these issues tend to be low demand for collectors in my experience, so they can be bought pretty cheaply even if they're uncommon.  Other than a few key undergrounds like the first couple issues of Zap Comix, even most undergrounds from the late 60s and early 70s can usually be bought for no more than $5-$10 on eBay.

I have extensive knowledge on comic books published from 1897 through 1975. My knowledge goes beyond superheroes to include early strip reprints from 1897-1930 or so, science fiction, horror comics of the 50s and 70s, love, crime, satire and other genres. I can provide advice on buying or selling comics as well as answering general queries.

I am a longtime collector and occasional seller of older comics.
