Question
Hi! My uncle gave me a few comicbooks and I was wondering if you could tell me if they are worth anything. They both are in the plastic sleeve and have a cardboard in the back of the plastic sleeve.
The first one is The Amazing Spiderman issue 16 from 1982.  The other one is an Iron Man one but it has a small rip in it ........
If you could help me figure out the values I would really like that.

Answer
Hi Dylan -

Thanks for your question!

A lot depends on the condition the comics are in, but if its 'sleeved' and on cardboard it's probably in pretty good shape!  Listed below is a website that a lot of us use to try and determine value, but from what I can determine it looks like the issue you have is worth quite a bit.

Even with a small rip the Iron Man issue might still be in 'fair' condition.  Sometimes the value on a particular issue can go up if it contains a guest appearance by a popular character, or a particularly poignant storyline.  Check out the site and see if you can find the issues you are looking for, if you don't, get back to me and I will be happy to help you out.

Thanks!

Expertise

I am an expert on the storylines of most DC and Marvel comics particularly the X-Men, Justice League and most Marvel comics of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The characters with which I am the most familiar are Daredevil, Iron Man, Batman, and the Avengers. I am a rabid Green Lantern fan as well and would put that as one of my favorite things in life! One thing I won't do is estimate the value of a comic book, if that is what you need check out www.comicspriceguide.com

Experience

I have collected comic books for 36 years and have close relatives in the industry who helped shape the direction of comics in the early seventies.
