Question
I have a 1944 Batman Comic #23 in good condition.  It has a 10 cent cover of Batman and the Joker playing chess.  I would like to know how much it is worth, because I have someone who has told me that it can be worth $1000-$2000 and I would like to know if they are lying to me.

Thank You,
Kayla

Answer
Hi Kayla

This is indeed a valuable comic.  Exactly how much it is worth will depend on its condition.  According to the Overstreet price guide, a copy in Good condition is worth $257.  Good means a somewhat worn but still solid copy without major tears, missing pieces, brittle pages, etc.  A like-new copy with no flaws is listed in the price guide at $3600.

These are retail prices.  You should probably expect to get 40 to 80% of those prices if you try to sell the comic.

Good luck!

Chris
