if superman gets his power from the sun what would happen if he flew into the sun would he become even more powerful or would he die?

Hi John -

Yes, in fact at the end of the Infinite Crisis series two Supermen from parallel universes fly into the sun and become 'over energized'.

The two become so energized that they literally are glowing with power and are able to beat the snot out of a third 'bad' Superman from yet another parallel universe.

Apparently solar energy can only strengthen Superman and, thus far, there has been no upper limit shown.  Some comic writers have even intimated that, if Superman wished it, he could compeltely drain a sun and become god like (more or less).
