QuestionHello, I found a pack of star wars comics still with the plastic but the plastic has been opened. it is books 1 through 6 they are all in fair to good condition I'm sure they are from the original star wars era. My question is that I want to sell them but I have no idea what they are worth or where to find out how much they are worth. any ideas? thanks for your help!!
AnswerHi Carole
There were reprint editions of the Star Wars comics put out almost as soon as the originals came out in the 70s. If the comics you have were originally sold in a set including issues 1-6, I am 99% sure they are reprints.
To identify if they are reprints, look for any of the following:
1) the word "reprint" in the upper lefthand corner of the cover
2) the word "reprint" on the first page in the indicia
3) the price and number of the comic listed inside a diamond on the front cover plus no date on the cover and no UPC code
If any of the above are true, these comics would be of pretty low value and interest. Based on the condition you indicate, you would probably do well to get $10 for the lot if they are reprints. The plastic bag they came in might actually be the rarest part of the lot and interesting to collectors if it has any Star Wars insignia or other writing on it.
Feel free to follow up if you have further questions.
