Comic books (Comics)/Captain Marvel Jr 1940's 50's
Expert: Chris Brown - 12/14/2009
Question Chris,
My uncle told me of a Captain Marvel Jr when he was young, around ten years of age. He is seventy-four now. The story is of Captain Marvel Jr finding himself in the future where everyone does and says things in half the time. Because of this Freddy F could not change into CMJr because he could only say one half of his mighty "SHAZAM". Only capable of a "SHAZ", the lightening would not strike him. Someone in the plot had had to tell him he had to go back to the beginning of becoming SHAZAM and learn how to do it all over again. My uncle does not know which issue or episode it was, but I would like to find out for him. I know that each of these issues of the time contained four to five tales a piece. If you knew this I would be amazed! Anyway, I hope to hear from you. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-Duke Sweeny.
AnswerHi Duke Sweeny
Sorry but I have only read a few Capt Marvel Jr issues and do not remember having read this story. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there has not been any general index of 40s comic stories either that would help you to find this story.
However, you might want to try posting this question on one of the Yahoo discussion groups relating to Fawcett Comics. Here is a link to a list of 26 different groups filled with people with high interest in these characters:

(Actually, the search I did picked up some off-topic groups but the first five in this list all seem right on-target. The "Marvels_of_Shazam" group has almost 500 members!)
Good luck!
Chris
