Comic books (Comics)/Batman

Question
I collected Batman comics back from 5th to 9th grade... late eighties/early nineties... around the time the Cult series was printed...   I've kept them all in slips.  They're mint.  How much money are these things worth?  Also, Batman seemed like kind of a prick in most of these, just badass you know...  the kind of asshole you could fear and respect.  Am I off-base here, or what's up with that?

Hi Glover -

Above is the link to the Grand Comic Database and, if you punch in the issues you have, it will give you a fantastic estimate of the market value of the issues you have.  Check it out, a lot of us on the site use it when we are trying to determine values.

Yeah, Batman was a real tough cookie during that period wasn't he? Nope, you are not off base at all.

Much of his change in attitude had to do with his guilt and angst over the death of Jason Todd, the second individual to become Robin.  Batman felt an enormous amount of guilt over his inability to protect Jason and for not training him to the level to which he trained Dick Grayson (the original Robin.)

That event sent him down a dark path for much of the 80's and early nineties, and still occasionally haunts him to this day.

Thanks so much for the questions, let me know if you have any others.

Expertise

I am an expert on the storylines of most DC and Marvel comics particularly the X-Men, Justice League and most Marvel comics of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The characters with which I am the most familiar are Daredevil, Iron Man, Batman, and the Avengers. I am a rabid Green Lantern fan as well and would put that as one of my favorite things in life! One thing I won't do is estimate the value of a comic book, if that is what you need check out www.comicspriceguide.com

Experience

I have collected comic books for 36 years and have close relatives in the industry who helped shape the direction of comics in the early seventies.
