Answer
Hi Paul -

What a great idea!

My suggestion would be to contact the independent publishers of comic books first (basically anything other than DC and Marvel).  Look at Image or Dark Horse comics in particular as they are much more sympathetic to newer ideas and creators.

Their websites should have information on submission guidelines for getting new ideas in front of the right people.

Image and Dark Horse also generally work out a much better deal with creator owned works whereas DC and Marvel most often require sole ownership over any property they license meaning, if they pick up Mr. Rubbish and make T-Shirts with the character, you wouldn't see a dime of the profits from that enterprise.

One other option you might look into is contacting your local comic shops.  They will most likely have contacts amongst local publishers they can hook you up with and/or may agree to give your issues shelf space, a signing party, etc. etc.

Start with those two avenues first and let me know if you have any other questions!  Best of luck!

Expertise

I am an expert on the storylines of most DC and Marvel comics particularly the X-Men, Justice League and most Marvel comics of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The characters with which I am the most familiar are Daredevil, Iron Man, Batman, and the Avengers. I am a rabid Green Lantern fan as well and would put that as one of my favorite things in life! One thing I won't do is estimate the value of a comic book, if that is what you need check out www.comicspriceguide.com

Experience

I have collected comic books for 36 years and have close relatives in the industry who helped shape the direction of comics in the early seventies.
