QuestionHow strong is Thanos? How would he fare against Q, Nagilum, or a Douwd?
Phoenix vs. Thanos
Q vs. the 13 Celestials
Mr. M vs. the 13 Celestials
Superman Prime vs. 80 "normal" Supermans
If Superman accidentally ate a kryptonite sandwich, would he die?
What hurts Superman more?
A) Non-yellow suns
B) Kryptonite
If the Snow Slug managed to surprise Superman and it swallowed him whole, would he die?
Superman vs. Thanos
AnswerHi John -
Thanos is pretty much equivalent to Darkseid in the DC Universe and has enough strength to stand toe-to-toe with Superman and stand a better than even chance of coming out of the experience intact. When he possessed the Infinity Gauntlet his power was nearly limitless so, if he had that he could probably do pretty well against Nagilum, Q or a Douwd. Without it I think any one of the three would pretty easily defeat him.
As powerful as he is however there are indications that the Phoenix is more powerful. Thanos (for all intents and purposes) is "just a guy" albeit a very, very powerful one. Phoenix is an integral part of the framework of the universe and, in essence, cannot die, only change.
Mr. M's supposedly able to affect reality on a large scale but, with thirteen Celestials to take on and with their vast intelligence he'd have to act pretty fast in order to get them all.
Yes, the wavelengths of radiation emitted by the kryptonite would cause the cells in his body to break down and he'd have a reaction similar to an allergic person who consumed something they were allergic to.
Superman's powers are directly proportional to the amount of solar radiation emitted by a specific sun so, non-yellow suns don't hurt him at all they just change the nature of his powers.
If he were on a planet with a blue sun his powers would increase because stars of that nature emit more solar radiation than a yellow sun. If he were on a planet with a red sun, like Krypton, his powers would decrease though this wouldn't necessarily cause him any pain.
Kryponite emits certain wavelengths of radiation that have differing affects on the cells of Kryptonians. Green Kryptonite causes the cells to break down and (as we know from the movies, comics etc.) hurts Superman and can even kill him with enough exposure.
Red Krytponite doesn't necessarily hurt Superman as its affects on Kryptonians vary. In one comic exposure to Red Kryptonite caused Superman's head to expand to giant size, in another it made the negative aspects of his personality come out, etc. etc.
Gold Kryptonite causes catastrophic changes to the cellular structure of a Kryptonian and permanently removes their ability to channel solar radiation, rendering them powerless.
No, the acids in the Snow Slug's system would most likely not have the corrosive affect on Superman as they do to food and he should be able to punch his way out like Agent K did in the movie Men in Black when he was swallowed.
Thanos' biggest weakness is his arrogance and my guess is that Superman is smart enough to trick him and use that weakness to his advantage.
Thanks!
