Question
QUESTION: What would the effect be if Data hit the following in the face/head as hard as he could?

A) Thor
B) Surfer
C) Hulk
D) Wolverine
E) Spider-Man
F) Thanos
G) Wonder Woman
H) Doomsday
I) Darkseid

Who's taller?
A) Galactus
B) 1 Celestial

ANSWER: Hi John -

A)  My guess is that the effect would be similar to you or I hitting someone slightly larger than us, his head might turn and it might sting a little, but that would probably be the extent of the effect.

B)  Surfer - I doubt the Surfer would even register it, and Data might damage his mechanical hand.

C)  Hulk - Probably not much, the Hulk would feel it like you or I would a friendly punch from someone on the same sports team, but I doubt it would cause him much more than a momentary annoyance.

D)  Wolverine - the force of the punch would knock the mutant back several dozen feet and he'd have a severe facial laceration and shock/trauma, but his healing factor would kick in and the damage would most likely be pretty much healed by the time he stood back up.

E)  Spiderman - my guess is he'd be knocked back several feet, if his spider sense didn't warn him prior to the punch making contact.

F)  Thanos - It would probably be similar to the effect of hitting the Silver Surfer.

G)  Wonder Woman - My guess is her head would turn in a direction away from the punch, but she wouldn't stagger back or be badly damaged.

H)  Doomsday - Data would damage his hand/arm and Doomsday wouldn't feel a thing.

I)  Darkseid - probably very similar to the reaction Thanos would have.

My feeling is that the Celestials are slightly taller, but I think Galactus can alter his height to some extent so its variable.

Thanks!

QUESTION: What is the cause behind the Surfer and Doomsday having a higher pain tolerance than some of the others (thicker skin, maybe)?

Why would Data damage his hand when he hit Doomsday?

If the Hulk hit the Surfer, Thanos, Doomsday, Celestial, or Galactus, would they feel pain?

If Data grabbed Wolverine, and started pounding on him, would Wolverine eventually fall unconscious?

ANSWER: Hi John -

Exactly!  The Surfer's outer coating was designed to withstand the rigors of space, and Doomsday's body is like Superman's, only engineered for toughness.

Doomsday is a native Kryptonian life form, hence his cells are energized by yellow solar radiation like Superman's, who was engineered through a program of Eugenics, training, conditioning and genetic manipulation to be the ultimate predator on Krypton.

Data, for all his strength, is composed of metals, polymers and artificial cells that would be damaged by striking something that hard.

If the Hulk hit those individuals I doubt they would feel pain.  The Surfer might be knocked back a ways based on his size and weight, but I don't think it would necessarily hurt him.

Yes, Wolverine's brain and system could only take so much trauma before even his healing factor isn't sufficient enough to cope with it.

Thanks!

QUESTION: Ok, if Thor/Superman hit the Surfer, Galactus, Celestial, Doomsday, or Thanos would they feel pain (I assume Thor is stronger than Hulk)?

Would the Surfer, Celestial, Doomsday, and Thanos feel pain from a Galactus hit?

Could Galactus, Celestial, Doomsday, Thanos, Surfer, Thor, or Hulk be assimilated?

Douwd vs. Galactus

Answer
Hi John -

Thor - Surfer he might feel a little uncomfortable, Galactus, Celestial, Doomsday or Thanos probably not.

Superman - definitely any of those on the list would feel it!

The Surfer, Celestial, Doomsday and Thanos would certainly feel it if Galactus hit them.

I think Doomsday, Thor or the Hulk could be assimilated, but doubt the others could.

My guess is that the Douwd could probably hurt Galactus, but doubt he could necessarily kill him.

Thanks!

Expertise

I am an expert on the storylines of most DC and Marvel comics particularly the X-Men, Justice League and most Marvel comics of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The characters with which I am the most familiar are Daredevil, Iron Man, Batman, and the Avengers. I am a rabid Green Lantern fan as well and would put that as one of my favorite things in life! One thing I won't do is estimate the value of a comic book, if that is what you need check out www.comicspriceguide.com

Experience

I have collected comic books for 36 years and have close relatives in the industry who helped shape the direction of comics in the early seventies.
