Comic books (Comics)/a question about a certain marvel horror magazine from the 70's

Question
Hi.  I've spent years troubling over this certain magazine I had and loved when I was a kid.  I can't remember the title of the mag but believe it had ( Neal Adams ) Frankenstein monster walking the streets in a white background on the cover.  Inside it had several tales which were all very good.  I remember it having a FRANKENSTEIN story first.  Then a story about a Mummy's yellow eyes.  It had a Man-Thing story and the best of all was a story about an island full of convicts where one in particular named Marcel ( if I'm not mistaking ) kept their decapitated heads in glass jars and eventually the heads got revenge on him.   LOL!

As I said, I can't remember the title and have searched all over ebay, the web, etc just for cover galleries and all that but have had no luck at all.  Driving me nuts.  Anyway-  if you have any idea please let me know.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jason

I can't think offhand of any comic that would have had both Frankenstein and Man-Thing in the same issue.  But then, many comics with Man-Thing also included reprints of Marvel horror comics from the 50s.  Some of those comics featured the Frankenstein character, so the comic might have included one of those reprints rather than being a new story with Marvel's 1970s Frankenstein character.

But on the other hand, pretty much every comic with Man-Thing inside also had Man-Thing on the cover.  So I wonder if your memory is conflating two or more comics into an "ideal" issue.  Anyway, can you provide any further details?  Was the comic you remember in black-and-white or in color?  Standard or magazine sized?  Around what year was it published?  Or if you don't know when published, when do you first remember owning it?  And was it definitely Man-Thing and not Swamp-Thing--the last story you describe seems to remind me a little bit of the plot of one of the Swamp Thing stories.
