Comic books (Comics)/vintage fleetway comics 1960's early
Expert: Chris Brown - 3/10/2010
QuestionGreetings Chris,
I found comics belongs to my grandfather about 200-300 of them, black ink, condition mostly VG+/-, early issues #1-200++, like sea war picture library, woman's weekley library, pictures stories of world war II, love story library, combat picture library, battle picture library, cowboy comics. some fleetway super library & silhouette pictures series (war stories library) #1 featuring desert fued & untamed. etc
I been searching for forums & site to value these comics but unsuccessful. Kindly advise forums that provide more info or a site to value these comics & a referance book to value these. Should i sell it or pass it to my next generations ? Also how to take care of these vintage comics (it's so fragile)
Many thanks in advance,
Adrian :)
AnswerHi Adrian
My knowledge is primarily of comics published in the United States. From what I understand, Fleetway comics were published in England and not distributed in the United States. They are not of interest to collectors here, but I don't know if there is collector interest in other areas of the world.
As for taking care of them, store them in a cool, dry, dark place. Obviously, make sure they are protected from possible insect or rodent infestation, flooding, humidity, etc. Comic shops sell various types of plastic bags that are helpful for minimizing air exposure and accidental dings and bends.
Enjoy.
Chris
