Question
I found a comic book in a pile of old stuff at my dads' house.  It is a Classics Illustrated, A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens (No.6).  I tried to research this, but all of the ones I found had a 15 cent sign on the cover, mine does not.  Published by Gilberton Company in NY.  Illustrated by Stanley Maxwell, Lettering by Fred Eng.  Should I keep it or just pitch it?

Answer
Hi Julia

What you have is a later printing and not a first edition.  The earlier editions were called "Classic Comics" rather than "Classics Illustrated."

If it is in typical used and worn condition, it is probably only worth a dollar or two.  If it is in nice condition, it could be worth $5 or $10, depending on which edition it is.  If it is like new, it could be worth even more.

Regardless, I hate to advise anyone to throw away an old comic.  If nothing else, maybe you could find a library or somewhere else to donate it.

Feel free to follow up if you have further questions.
