spent years rebuilding a collection that i lost in a fire. now after i have the greatest majority of the large runs replaced i am working on some of the more obscure and hard to remember books. i remember in the 70's (early?) a horror story about a man and his family that lived in a swamp. their was a huge creature that would lure you to your death then use your body attached to a long tentacle to attract others. the man lost his wife to the creature, so he decided to eat a huge amount of rat poison and let the creature "trick" him into being taken. it also "kinda" remember a page with a young witch with long hair ( the witches wail?) with a poem that if said would make a knocking sound at midnight. i remember my Dad scaring me with that one lol. anyone happen to remember the books i am talking about? thanks in advance!
