Is there any way I can tell if it is an original? We live in a rural area and I have not been able to find anyone that knows anything about comics. Thanks so much.

-----Question-----
I have a detective comic No. 27 May 1939, can you tell me where I can find someone to find the value of the comic?
-----Answer-----
Hi Brenda,
Assuming that the issue you have is the original Detective Comics #27 and not one of several reprints that exist, the current values I found for that comic (based on condition) are as follows:
NEAR MINT $400,000.00
VERY FINE $200,000.00
FINE $100,000.00
VERY GOOD $48,000.00
GOOD $32,000.00
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Brenda,
I've only been able to track down 2 reprint editions.
One is considered an oversized issue that measures 10 inches wide by 13 1/2 inches tall. If the comic you have has these measurements, then it's a reprint.
The other reprint I found was put out by Nabisco in 1984 and has a paper cover and only 32 pages. I believe the original issue has 68 pages.
Hope this helps.

AnswerBrenda,
Unfortunately the oversized edition doesn't have near the value of the original. Here's the most recent value information I could find for it:
NEAR MINT $75.00
VERY FINE $63.75
FINE $22.50
VERY GOOD $11.25
GOOD $5.25
Let me know if you have any other questions.
