Commercial Real Estate Investment/Alternative Investments

Question
Hi Mike,

I am a beneficiary in an inheritance Trust and would like to invest it in the stock market. The thing I fear is stock market volatility these days, and I've begun wodering if it would be wiser to invest this inheritance in some sort of business or property?
Don't affluent people like to take fishing and hunting vacations, and wouldn't investing in some affordable, cabin-like structures and amenities at remote locations to rent out, be a profitable idea?

Thak you very much.

Mike E.

Answer
Real estate is a particularly good investment, especially now that prices are depressed and interest rates are at their lowest in decades. For vacation rentals, you of course need to do lots of research to be sure there is consistent demand. I recommend contacting an active real estate broker in the area you're interested in.
