Question
QUESTION: hi keith..i have a limited budget fit to buy an intel celeron between 1.6 and 2.2ghz single core cpu with upto 2gb of ram.all i need to know is it able to do video mixing(virtual dj)&video editing(Adobe cs33)& can the cpu last 3yrs atleast of moderate use?

ANSWER: I don't know if you have a compatible motherboard but you may want to look into an AMD processor. AMD's do a good job and are much cheaper than Intel. The limitations of the Celeron's are small L2 caches. If this is not possible I would at least try to get a Pentium 4. What is the socket type of your motherboard? Also, where are you shopping for a processor? You can find good deals at www.tigerdirect.com and www.newegg.com

QUESTION: hi keith..thanx..i want to buy a new CPU..so the celerons fit my budget..what about a single core PIV, 2.0GHZ, 2GB RAM? can it meet the obligations..thanx

Answer
You will have to find out what socket type your motherboard is. You just can't put any processor in. It has to be the same socket type.
As far as video editing, a P4 or better and plenty of RAM (at least 2gigs) should do the job.

We can find out the socket type of your motherboard by looking on the motherboard itself and see if it tells the brand and model #.
