How much garbage (or whatever you throw away in the compost) do you need before it is actually a good idea to get a compost?

I take this as, and please correct me if I am wrong, Is how MUCH Material do you need, before you start a Compost Pile?

There is really no Right or Wrong answer here. Some people just want to Recycle their Waste, avoiding a Trip to a Landfill, for some Garbage that can be re-used, and Benefit the Planet.

While others, do this on a Large Scale Basis, for Organic Farming.

You don't need much Matter to start Composting. As little as a 5 Gallon Bucket of Kitchen Waste will do. Sorry, I don't know the Metric value of this. Make the Garbage as small as possible, chop it up, and it will Decompose faster. Keep Turning it to add Oxygen, and keep it damp, but not soggy.
