Question
Hello Greg.

I know that earthworms are beneficial to a healthy compost bin, but I wonder whether it is beneficial or not to place any snails/slugs that I find in the garden into my enclosed plastic composter? The few I have thrown in do seem to leave a lot of hopefully good poo around the insides of the bin?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Peter

Answer
Hello Peter

Sorry for the Delay in Response Time, I was having some Computer Problems.

Snails/Slugs and any member of the Mollosk family should be avoided in the Compost Pile. They are considered Pests, and can harm Desirable Vegetation in your Garden. An Explosion in numbers of these, could bring Havoc.

Earthworms on the other hand should be added, they are by far the greatest friend to any Gardener.
