Composting/liquid fertilizer

QuestionHi there Greg I am wondering is there a liquid product I can make from scratch to help my transplants grow better or can you give me the *numbers * nutrient or mineral? that I ned to look for such as 10/15/10 I see these in gardening products in my local garden center but they are so expensive ..can you please advise me on this? thank you in advance ... AnswerHello Pearl...If you were to take an old Nylon and fill it with (Sifted) Compost and tie the top up, lets it sit overnight in a bucket of water, you would have what is called (Compost Tea). This is a very weak solution and Fertilizer that would not harm your new Transplants, or Seedlings. If you were to add up all 3 numbers N-P-K on Fertilizer and the numbers come up to 20 or less, the product is Organic. Adding some Rock Phosphate, Greensand, Blood Meal, etc. will help you get them off to a good start. Follow the Instuctions on the Bag as to how much to use per Diluted 1 Gal of water, then cut that in half for New Plants till they get established. The Best of Luck...Greg
