Question
Hi.  I'm creating some instructional materials in basic biology.  What is a good graphics program that I can use to make charts, diagrams, etc., for biology material?

Thank you.

Answer
"XFIG" is a very useful free program for drawing line charts and diagrams.

"GIMP" which is a free software is also a good program.

"Adobe Illustrator" is a powerful commercial program.

For simple flowcharts microsoft-powerpoint is very useful to make ready to use slides.
