i would like to know recent trend in molecular therapeutics

Dear Prabu,

molecular therapeutics is a vast area of life science. every single day there are new research findings coming out. as research is progressing, there is now more and more hope that we can fight and ward of deadly infectious diseases like TB/malaria/Hiv.

you have asked a very broad question which cannot possibly be answered through this forum. however, I suggest that you read journals like "Drug Discovery today : Therapeutic strategies" which I believe will increase your understanding of things better.

I have a broad knowledge in subjects like applied bioinformatics (for example, pathogenomics, computer aided drug design etc)(but not the computational aspects like algorithms, data mining etc), genetic engineering, genomics, molecular therapeutics, drug design and discovery, immunology, cancer and hiv biology,genomics and proteomics. i will be happy to answer fundamental queries in these areas.

Experience

I am graduating in fall 2006, and hoping to work towards a PhD in life sciences/bioinformatics/pharmaceutical sciences. i have about 16 technical oral/poster presentations to my credit. i am the co-author of 7 papers which have been published. (while some of my manuscripts are still being reviewed). i am pretty confiedent about answering queries as i have taken core courses in more than 50 subjects relating to life sciences.
