Sorry!  Hit the wrong answer button (which is why it sent the prior response)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but I have been in the hospital for the last couple of days with no internet access.

Anyhow, to answer your question, you have to decide what kind of IT manager you wish to be before you can answer this type of question.  If you want to be an Applications focused manager, then studying and becoming adept at development languages would be paramount.  If you wish to have a database focus, then maybe SQL server would be good.

However, since you list A+, Network+, I assume that means you are leaning towards the Infrastructure/Support realm, meaning you wish to manage the support guys while they troubleshoot servers, networks, etc...

If that is the case, CompTIA certs are good for "exposure" to any single discipline.  I suggest A+, Network+, Server+ and Security+ for a decent base in those areas.  Afterwards, you are spot on with Project Management training, however, don't waste your time on any "exposure" related training.  Instead, get an industry recognize/respected cert, such as PMI's PMP certification.  The requirements for the PMP are difficult to meet, but a PMP certified pro can expect to make near six figures. I took the PMI CAPM (a lower level project management cert) because I do not have a degree and the requirements were too high for me to meet.

Also, seriously consider taking EXIM's ITIL certifications training as it will instruct you on how to properly build an IT support structure.  You take a foundations course first, then practioner level afterwards.

The above is the course of action I am currently taking and hopefully it will equate into a management position.  But note, that only management experience is the number one way to get a management job, so look for any position that has leadership roles and use it to build your skills.
