Computer Certification/At home business

Question
I am currently 17 years of age. I am always working on computers. I am quite good. I want to go to college and need some cash. Is it legal to offer at home repair services? Like on craigslist for locals, or shipping. What are the requirements for making a business? It is my future and life goal to eventually own a business.

I'm by no means an expert in business or legal issues, so please take any response here with that preamble.

I've done work on computer personally;  however, laws in every state and country are very different.  taxes on parts need to be paid (labor isn't taxed in some states), and there are legal issues to contend with if someone decides to turn a lawsuit on you for other reasons.

I would suggest before doing anything, seek advise from a friend/relative that works in business, government and/or law to get some advice.  I can't suggest either way for you, but be cautious in any endeavor.
