What are the statue of limitations in Pennsylvania for computer fraud.
I received an e-mail from a co-worker a year ago pretending to be someone else.
I know she tapped into this persons personal e-mail address from our companies computer
and sent it to my work e-mail. She also signed the letter with this persons name.
The content of the e-mail was not work related.
You may be wondering why I waited so long to want to report this. She is making more
trouble for me at work. She has reported lies about me and other co-workers. She now
has me having to explain myself to Human Resources. I want to know if I have the right
for my company to investigate this e-mail.
I did confront the person who supposedly sent it and assured me it wasn't them.
The reason we decided to let it go is because we are dealing with and extremely
narcissistic person.
I look forward to any answers or suggestions you may have.
Take Care,
Michele
Answer Hi Michele,
You don't need to worry about a statue of limitations. What you need to do is report this to your company ASAP and tell them hat you would like them to look inot it before you contact the police. That shoudl get them moving. if they refuse or tell you to let it go, I would tell them you have no choice but to contact the police and do so.
That shoudl get the ball rolling as they say. This is a fairly common problem that is easy to take care of and investigate.
Hope that helps you decide what to do. Be well and stay safe..
