Question
Hi I am setting up an additional server as an application server and have five SCSI hard disks, 1 GB each. Performance isn't a significant concern but protecting the database that's stored on this server is critical.  How can I configure the system to help proper startup, provide sufficient storage capacity, and protect the database from data loss?

Answer
Jessica:

Set system up with RAID 0 combination and also do regular backups of SQL Server data.  You may want to MIRROR database if performance isn't an issue that way you have an immediate backup of data.

For further details read Database mirroring for your database and read up on setting up SCSI hard disks as RAID 0.

Kind Regards,
jeff
